Belmont, California [December 2000]

The Caltrain station at Belmont was recently upgraded as part of Ponderosa Grade Separation Project. It's not as nice as the new depot at San Mateo, but with its imposing height above the downtown, and a well light station clock, it's evocative of another era.

This brief shoot was a test of a new 45mm/2.8 Zeiss lens. As always, shooting Caltrain is kind of like fishing in a barrel -- you know what you're going to get, and when you're going to get it. Still, every now and then, some variety shows up. This is CDTX 920, one of the new F40PH3s from Boise Locomotive.
Here we have CDTX 918, one of Caltrain's Alstom rebuilds, on southbound train 66.
CDTX 914 is another F40PH rebuild.
